This firm thermized milk cheese has been named World’s Best Aged Cheddar numerous times thanks to its exceptional quality. The line includes cheddars that have been aged for 1, 2, 3 or 5 years. As the cheese matures, its smooth, creamy texture turns more crumbly in the mouth and its hazelnut flavour deepens and takes on a sharper quality. The result is a unique flavour experience.  

1 Year-Old Cheddar
Ripened for over 12 months, this cheese features a hint of hazelnut and a smooth texture. Savour it in a fruit and nut salad.

2 Year-Old Cheddar
The distinct yet delicate note of hazelnut and smooth texture of the best cheddars characterize this cheese. Delicious mixed into a steak sauce of light beer, mushrooms, butter and a pinch of estragon.

3 Year-Old Cheddar
The cheese is ripened for more than 48 months, producing a sharper hazelnut flavour and a texture that is firmer and more crumbly. A treat for gourmet palates. Enjoy it on your favourite bread accompanied by foie gras.

5 Year-Old Cheddar
Cheese connoisseurs will love this 5-year-old cheddar, whose mature age delivers a pronounced taste, a toasted hazelnut flavour and a distinctive, crumbly texture. Offer it on a cheese plate with fresh and dried fruit, along with a glass of port or full-bodied red wine.

The Agropur Grand Cheddar is available in supermarkets and some specialty cheese shops.

Awards and distinctions

Agropur Grand Cheddar Réserve Spéciale is without a doubt the most rewarded Cheddar; it has won more than 25 prizes around the world since its launch in 2001. The company has even created its own special quality seal: V.S.A.C. (very special aged Cheddar). Among the most recent prizes:1st prize winner at the British Empire Cheese Show competition, Medium Coloured Cheddar (3-6 months of age) class in 2016 and Mature Cheddar (12-15 months of age) class in 2015. 2015 and 2014 Sélection Caseus competition winner in the Cheddar category (5 year cheddar).
