This firm rindless cheese is made with pasteurised milk and contains no modified dairy ingredients. The regular cheddar has a buttery aroma and hazelnut flavour, which becomes more pronounced over time. It comes in several versions:
A white, yellow or marbled cheddar, available in rounds or curds.
In addition to a regular version, this mild cheddar is available in several flavoured varieties: garlic, hot pepper, onion, dill, salsa and even jalapeno.
White or yellow in colour, available in a range of sharpness, from medium (4 to 6 months) to strong (8 to 15 months) and extra strong (20 to 28 months).
At the cheese maker’s, illustrated displays allow visitors to learn about how the cheese curds are made. Choose from among its famous regular cheese curds and variety of flavoured versions such as poutine, pizza, piri-piri, BBQ, hickory BBQ and tomato and basil.
Mirabel Cheddar is available from the cheese maker and at most specialty cheese shops and grocery stores in the region.
