Made from pasteurized milk, the Cheddar Skouik! Skouik! is made fresh daily, firm, unripened and rindless. Its cream-coloured interior features a buttery aroma and a mild hazelnut flavour. It is offered in blocks of different sizes and in curds.
Skouik! Skouik! cheese curds are large, long and plump.
Why the Skouik! Skouik! name? The real test for a daily fresh cheese, whether in blocks or curds, is the sound it makes when you take a bite. The much sought-after “squick!” sound announces a soft cheese that resists slightly under pressure, but comes deliciously undone in the mouth. An impromptu acoustic concert that’ll leave you pining for encores! The packaging concurs, as it reads “Skouik! Skouik! Une fraîcheur qui s’entend” (Squick! Squick! Freshness you can hear).
The Cheddar Skouik! Skouik! is available from the cheese maker as well as in the deli section of most supermarkets, in convenience stores and other grocery stores in the Cantons-de-l’Est, Chaudière-Appalaches, Montérégie and Centre-du-Québec regions.
