This firm, rindless cheese is made from 100% pure pasteurized milk, and contains no modified milk ingredients. Des Basques Swiss is part of the Gruyère family, and it is interior-ripened in a warm room for one to two months before being aged in a cold room. Its cream-coloured interior features large openings, known as eyes, and has a firm yet melty consistency. Its flavour and texture give it all the qualities of Swiss cheese.
Available in blocks or slices, Des Basques Swiss can be enjoyed very simply. It is perfect for breakfast, snacks, salads, gratin dishes, pasta, quiches, omelettes and melted cheese preparations, including Swiss fondue.
Des Basques Swiss is available at the Fromagerie des Basques and in the refrigerated section of supermarkets, convenience stores and service stations as well as in several fine grocery stores and specialty grocery stores, from La Pocatière to the Gaspésie region and all the way to the border of New Brunswick.
