This semi-soft, washed-rind cheese is made from pasteurized whole milk, and contains no modified milk ingredients. It is first aged in a cold room for two to three months before being surface-ripened for one to two weeks with the Unibroue brewery’s Trois-Pistoles beer, which gives it a brown colour and a slightly fruity flavour. This cheese was born from the creative genius of cheesemakers who wanted to create a unique cheese that was distinctive of the region.
Just like L’Héritage, L’Héritage à la Bière is made according the ancestral method of the Basque Country. Its name refers to the way the Basques who passed through marked the region’s history. L’Héritage à la Bière will impress with its colour and originality, on a serving platter as well as in a prepared dish.
L’Héritage à la Bière is available at the Fromagerie des Basques and in the refrigerated section of supermarkets, convenience stores and service stations as well as in several fine grocery stores and specialty grocery stores, from La Pocatière to the Gaspésie region and all the way to the border of New Brunswick.
