This firm, unripened, reduced-fat cheese is made from pasteurized partly-skimmed milk using artisanal methods. It is rindless, with a supple-textured ivory interior and a milky, salted butter aroma and flavour. It is available in block or snack format. As for the cheese formerly known as Jocoeur Vieilli, it now goes by the name Amoroso.
Produced since 2009, Jocoeur is a delicious light cheese that’s perfect for those who want to reduce their fat intake without compromising on taste. Wanting to make health a priority within its organization, the Fromagerie La Vache à Maillotte chose to name its cheese Jocoeur in honour of the Jocoeur program, which promotes disease prevention, healthy lifestyles and chronic illness screening and management in the workplace. In addition to facilitating access to a team of health professionals, the program demystifies our health care system and improves employees’ personal understanding through education on various health topics.
Jocoeur is available from the cheese maker, in specialty cheese shops and in some supermarkets.
