Perfect for the winter cold, this fondue carries the joy of the Québec Winter Carnival. A passion for cheeses and fondues for over 25 years, the people at 1001 Fondues concocted this bold fondue from cheeses from the Fromagerie des Basques and the Fromagerie La Chaudière to warm us up, since it’s only available in winter!
Although the first structured winter festival in Québec dates back to 1894, the first Québec Winter Carnival as we know it was held in 1955. It is the largest winter carnival in the world. The arrowhead sash, which is depicted on the fondue’s packaging, is part of the Carnival’s traditions. This colourful braided belt is worn by several carnival-goers and by Bonhomme Carnaval. It is designed to call to mind the belt worn by Québec’s inhabitants in past centuries, who were continuing a Native American winter tradition.
La Fondue du Carnaval is available only in winter in the Québec region.
