This soft, triple cream cheese with a washed rind is made from whole pasteurized milk and contains no modified milk ingredients. Its taste and texture bring to mind the French Reblochon cheese. Under its orangey-yellow rind, which is covered by a fine white bloom, is a homogenous creamy white interior with a smooth taste and a hazelnut aroma.
The La Laitière label shows a peasant woman with her cattle in the fields. The owner wanted to pay tribute to his daughter, who works at the cheese maker, by showing her face in the picture. Open since December 2013, the Fromagerie Les Rivières is proud to be the only artisanal cheese maker and dairy processing factory in Québec.
La Laitière cheese is available from the cheese maker and at some supermarkets in the Québec region.
