This lactose-free rindless firm cheese is made from pasteurized milk and interior-ripened for six to eight months, wrapped in red wax. It has a subtle, sweet, clean and milky aroma of butter and hazelnut. It has a strong tangy flavour and a taste of butter and nut with vegetable touches.
Perfect as a snack and second tasting service, Le P’tit Bonheur enhances sandwiches, salads, summer recipes and hot dishes. It is especially appreciated in sauces and fondues. It enjoys the company of frank-tasting beers and rejoices in the presence of full-bodied whites and light reds.
By naming their cheese Le P’tit Bonheur, the Fromagerie Bergeron is paying tribute to Félix Leclerc and his song, Le petit bonheur. We all have precious moments that we just want to seize gently and preserve forever. These great everyday moments are our “little pleasures.” To earn its name, the cheese must successfully pass several stages of selection during its six to eight months of ripening. It is actually specially selected wheels of Bergeron CLASSIQUE who get to enjoy the quiet force of time. The cheese’s taste thus evolves from mild to medium.
Le P’tit Bonheur is available from the cheese maker or in specialty cheese shops and supermarkets.
